Good As New Blankets has served the equestrian community for over 15 years. We are dedicated to extending the life of your equine wear while also providing a positive customer experience. The comfort of your equine companion is also our top priority, which is why we use cleaning and waterproofing products rated for safe use on horse outerwear.

No appointments are needed for drop-off/ pick-up during our store hours.
We also offer collection and delivery services for barns that qualify (visit our services page for more details) as well as a "Barn Ambassador" program that includes exclusive discounts for those who enroll.

Did you know that cleaning those winter blankets in the spring vs waiting until fall will help extend their lifespan?
​
The U.V. rays from the sun and ammonia from urine are both damaging to the protective waterproofing layer on a blanket. Manure buildup can destroy the breathability of a blanket and impact the functionality of the waterproof layer. The fabric of a blanket weakens over time from regular wear and tear but heavy soiling expedites this process as the organic acids in feces can break down synthetic blanket materials over time. Bacteria and fungi from manure can also grow and produce pungent, long-lasting odors that can attract flies when blankets are left in a dirty condition for a long period.

Washing, waterproofing (as applicable), and repairing dirty horsewear shortly after use limits the damaging impacts from feces, urine, and general wear which can ultimately extend the life of a blanket.

Regularly servicing equine outerwear when it becomes noticeably dirty will also help maintain fabric integrity and the protective waterproofing layer. We are open year round and would be happy to help keep your blankets in working order so they remain reliable for years to come. ​

About Us
Hello! My name is Cheryl Root. Sixteen years ago, my daughter Charley and I started Good As New Blankets to provide a much needed washing and repair service to local farms. Since then, we have grown and expanded our service area to include the surrounding counties. We are excited to announce the acquisition of Horse Blanket Headquarters equipment to help support our continued growth. We believe that all of our customers deserve the highest level of service, and we are committed to providing just that.

We apologize, but providing a weekly scheduled pick up location has been proven to be more difficult than anticipated. Please be patient with us as we try to work out the logistics to make this possible. In the meantime, I will try to accommodate your needs by scheduling an individual meeting time for multiple blanket drop off when possible. For larger orders, we will be happy to schedule a specific time for your barn with a minimum order of 25 blankets. Hourly and mileage rates will apply for any pick ups beyond a 10 mile radius of downtown Howell Michigan.
We are happy to announce that we are continuing the " Barn Ambassador" program initiated by Horse Blanket Headquarters. Electing 1 person to collect, organize and manage the blanket pick up delivery process benefits both your farm and our services. Choosing to become the "Barn Ambassador" entitles you to a free blanket wash for every 10 blankets we pick up. Due to the large volume of blankets we receive, it is imperative that each blanket be tagged with the owner's name, number, description and services requested. This process can be labor intensive for our staff so we have adjusted our per blanket pricing to reflect the additional cost effective August 1st (see pricing list). The good news is that you can avoid this increased price by simply filling out the tags before dropping your blankets. To receive the blanket discount, please download our blanket tags to attach to each blanket and fill out our spreadsheet to identify individual owners within a farm. Call for more details.
